As you discovered your story in our timeline exercise in Part 1 – Discover Your Story; I’m sure you realized, as I did, that there were some wonderful high areas and some dreadfully low areas and then quite a bit of just regular living life areas. There are seasons of joy and sorrow, choices that bring feelings of regret, and accomplishments that make me proud. But my favorite part, as I looked at the big picture, is how I see the weaving of God’s handiwork in my life begin to take shape. Each event, each person, each experience comes together as a thread in the amazing tapestry of my life.
Some of our stories may seem more exciting than others, or more dramatic, or more powerful or successful…but they all matter. Your life matters in this world. Every one of us has a purpose. We must be willing to own our story. It will not be a perfect story, but it is our story nonetheless. Our willingness to embrace every aspect of our lives gives us the ability to live the life He has planned for us in the future.
Look closely…can you see it? The weaving of God’s plan through the years of your life is there. Sometimes we just need to stop long enough to see it. The tapestry of His love working in and through you is beautiful.
Claim your story boldly. Take ownership of it. Just like a real tapestry, what you see when you look closely seems to be a combination of messy mistakes. But what God sees through the blood of Christ is something beautiful.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
Isaiah 1:18 :Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”
