Please join me for this new Bible study.
Each new day will bring a set of new verbs, actions to choose for our daily walk. The verbs form an acrostic for Happy New Year. We will take two days for each letter.
Feel free to add new verbs and scripture references in the comments as we take this journey together.
It’s time to be the bride of Christ. It’s time to act according to our calling. It’s time to always choose the “right” thing. It’s time to let the world see Jesus. Let’s do this!
A daily Bible study.
Week 1 – Monday – “H”
Hope
The definition of hope for a Christian is very different from the world’s definition of hope. As a follower of Christ, I have the confident expectation that God will always do what He promises. Romans 12:12 “Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.” I think this would be a good way to start this year. Place your hope in the right things; not the things the world has to offer that will disappear and disappoint, but in the power of Almighty God who will never disappoint.
Hide
This word brings two thoughts to mind for today. Psalm 27:5 “For He will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; He will conceal me under the cover of His tent; He will lift me high upon a rock.” Psalm 17:8 “Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.” Psalm 91:4 “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge.”
Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.” There are so many things in this world that are competing for a place in our hearts. Let’s make sure that we are hiding the right things in our heart. May the Word of God be the strongest presence in your heart this new year.
I’m excited to see what’s next. Verbs mean action and action means not sitting on the sidelines of life. How comforting it is to know that Jesus hides me and protects me. How freeing it is to know that my hope is in God and His provision; He provides whatever I need. (Not want, but need!) Thanks Kelly.
Thanks for your comment Brenda. I’ve run into a little glitch with these posts. I’m working on it now. Hopefully we will be back on track tomorrow!
