Think About His Love
Jesus gave us two very specific commandments. He took all of the law and all of the religious teachings and simplified them for us….just – love. He didn’t make it easy. But He did make it simple to understand.
And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40.
We spend a lot of time on this blog contemplating how to live a life of love. Verse 40 of Matthew 22 tells us how important it is for followers of Jesus to live love. One translation uses these words in translation, “On these two commandments rest the whole law and the prophets.”
But today I would like to take you into a different place of thought. May you take time today to think about His love; the love of your Creator, your Refuge, your Savior.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
*There is one perfect love that will never fail you or forsake you. It is the love of Jesus Christ.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us. John 1:14
*He…..left….heaven….for you. He loved you so much that He shed His deity to become fully human; to live in a dark, sinful world. He didn’t come as a powerful ruler. He came as an innocent, helpless baby. His willingness to feel, see, hear, taste, and smell; His desire to experience joy, sorrow, pain, anxiety, pride, fear, and even death was because of His love for you.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
*He wants you to come to Him with every part of your life. He wants to share your burdens; those things that weigh you down. Jesus loves you enough to come alongside you and help you carry your burdens. He wants to give you rest.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
*The love the world offers is fickle at best. It ebbs and flows like the tides of the ocean. It is conditional and can be removed without notice. The love of Jesus is unconditional. The only condition for Jesus’ love to flow into your heart is your belief in Jesus Christ and your acceptance of Him as your Savior.
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. John 15:9
*You can live completely in the love of Jesus. There is enough love for every believer to have a full portion.
He loved them to the end. John 13:1
*To the end. He will love you “to the end” also. Think about it. That’s a really long time coming from someone who is infinite. His love for you is eternal.
He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. John 13:4-5
As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. Ephesians 1:7
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit. 1 Peter 3:18
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
*Every day He washes the grime from your repentant heart just like He washed the grime from the feet of His disciples at the last supper.
Jesus took on all of your sin – past, present, future. He, the spotless lamb, became the sin of the world, your sin, and was nailed to a cross so that you could be free. You are held captive to sin and its penalty of death until you accept the gift; the ransom that Jesus paid for you with His own life. You can be forgiven. You can be free. That is His love for you.
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-8
*Jesus Christ loved you so much that He died for you. He loves you.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20
*Jesus wants you to come to Him. He loves you enough to want what is best for you. He knocks on the door of your heart and desires to enter in and make you complete.
This is a choice you have to make on your own. No one can make it for you. Your are not born into being a follower of Christ. You are not automatically a follower of Christ just because you were raised in a Christian home or because you go to church regularly.
Following Christ is a choice. Seek Him and you will find Him! It is a decision.
Jesus loves you too much to force you to love Him. That is beautiful, true, pure love.
If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:3
*Jesus loves you enough to share heaven with you for eternity. He is coming back and, if you have accepted His gift of salvation, He will take you to be with Him forever in heaven.
Have you accepted the gift of salvation from Jesus Christ? Have you made the choice to follow Him? It is the most important decision you will ever make in your life. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. I will be honored to help you find a church home wherever you live. I will pray for you as you seek the Lord.
Think about His love!

Thanks for this word. I needed it this year, it seems that I have been too busy being a Martha and not a Mary. Too much to do, too many things to go to, too much cooking, Not enough time to think, pray and reflect.
Rosemary, I seem to get into the Martha mindset very easily and spend a lot of time there. I am trying so hard to be a Mary and sit at the feet of Jesus more. It is a wonderful place to be!
Thank you Kelly! That was beautiful!
Thanks for reading and commenting Robin!
